Diet Time....ACK!!!!!

I had my 6-week post op appointment last week and I have gained back the 9 pounds I lost after my surgery. Turd master man.....Doc wants me to lose at least 5 pounds within 4-weeks. Double turd master man.

Do I go to sleep at 9pm so I can get up at 5am and exercise? I don't know if I could do that. I just LOVE staying up late and getting up only 20 minutes before I need to rush out the door. But honestly, between all of the activities the kids have each night I don't know when else I would be able to get the exercise in.

Let's not talk about my diet yet. I'll work on that soon. Real soon......ha ha ha ha ha

Back to Work

Technically I don't see the surgeon again until the 14th of April, but I just can't afford to stay home anymore so off I went, back to work.

It was so nice to walk in this morning to balloons and ribbons all over my BRAND NEW furniture!!! You see, my company hired a new person 3 days before my surgery, but we had no where to put her so she had been using my desk space while I was out! LOL

I was very surprised to see how quickly I tired out and by 3:30 they kicked me out and sent me on my way home. I think I just may sleep like a baby tonight!!

History

Back in July of2009 while participating in a study at OHSU for PCOS the doctor's located a large cyst on one of my ovaries. They stated that is could potentially be of a cancerous nature and that I should have it looked at right away. Easier said than done....I had no health insurance at the time.

Right away Tim and I started to try and find some health insurance for me. I went through ehealth and two places (ODS and Lifewise) turned me down due to my weight (210 pounds). Crap, now what? Well, by then my employers were pretty concerned that I get it looked at so they agreed to pay $200 per month towards health care for me so we took the plunge and in October added me to Tim's policy through his employer.

I still didn't want to see a doctor right away due to fears about the whole pre-existing condition clause so I decided to wait until January to see a doctor given that my birthday is December 30th. So, in January a doctor was chosen an appointment was made and off I went to for an ultrasound on the cyst. Yep....still there, and even a little bigger now.

After discussions with the doctor about the possibility of ovarian cancer and my age we all decided that a total hysterectomy would be the best way to proceed. My surgery was scheduled for February 5th (Harrison's birthday) and we started to make the arrangements. Well......on the 3rd of February I got word that the insurance company was denying the surgery until April because they deemed it a preexisting condition. After talking with the insurance company and sending them the study paperwork from OHSU the surgery was re-approved but too late to still do the surgery on the 5th.

My new date was March 4th and I was READY!!! I was tired of the pain from a large cyst in my abdomen and I was tired of VERY HEAVY menstrual cycles. The day of surgery Tim and I got there and the doctors told me that I would be given an amnesia medicine so that there would end up being a period of time that I would not remember at all. This ended up coming in VERY HANDY as I learned after the surgery that I WOKE UP during the surgery. The surgeon told Tim that he was afraid I might have bad memories. Nope......no memories here!!

During the surgery by blood pressure sky rocketed upwards (no duh you idiots, I woke up!!!) and my blood sugar level also sky rocketed. While I was in the hospital recovering from the surgery they put me on high blood pressure meds and insulin to bring the blood sugar counts down. They talked about the possibility of onset Type 2 Diabetes and the need to possibly be on high blood pressure meds when I left. They sent in a dietitian to meet with me and talk about changing my diet.

Holy hell people, I'm only 44!!!! So.....by the time I left the hospital 3 days later, thankfully my blood pressure was back down to normal as was my blood sugar levels, but it did get me to start thinking a little bit about my habits and hence the birth of this blog.

I am going to try my best once I am cleared from the surgeon to get healthy and I mean really healthy!!! I will use this blog to journey that as I am more than sure that I will have some bad days on the road ahead.

Come join me on the ride!!!!!!
